God of the Sun, Sky, and Storms, Solon is well known throughout Aipana for his heroism during the Darkening, in which he saved his wounded brother Ara, and banished the Dark God Moloch from the mortal realm by sacrificing his corporeal form in a colossal nova of divine energy. However, the sacrifice costed Solon, and the deity can no longer take a corporeal form, nor can he return to his own divine realm. His spiritual essence lingers in the world, watching over it's inhabitants, purging darkness and corruption, and bringing light to all. Solon enjoys great popularity among the nations of humanity, with Andilla and Arten boasting the most worshipers, and Bergen coming in a close third.
While known for his courage and justice, Solon is not at all known for his mercy. He is pure. Terribly so. While he does not believe in exploiting the law, neither does he believe in restraining punishment from those that deserve it, even if they express remorse. For this reason, some often paint his Church as a collection of sanctimonious fanatics.
Temples of Solon are often build upon hills and mountain tops, and feature windows comprised of gigantic prisms of carven crystal that refract sunlight into beautiful colored patterns, and gigantic wind chimes that fill the landscape surrounding the temple with gently lilting chords of music during a gentle breeze, or thunderously beautiful peals of music during inclement weather.
The faith's military branch is composed of three branches: the Sons of the Dawn, a monastic order; the Knights Hospitaler, a knightly order; and the Brotherhood of the Cleansing Rain, a militia of common folk loyal to the faith. The Sons of the Dawn are primarily an order of clerics and monks who live in Solon's Temples, and seek to perfect their minds and bodies while protecting his Church, and recording it's deeds. They often accompany the Knights Hospitaler, a crusading band of elite warriors who escort church scholars and pilgrims on journeys, and wage war against great evils. The Brotherhood of the Cleansing Rain serves either of it's superior orders as needed, serving as the bread and butter of a local temple's defense force, or as the front line troops in wars against the Church's enemies.
